Soup Cook-Off!
Do you have a favorite soup that you like to cook?  We are having our first Soup Cook-Off where the public and judges will choose their favorites.

Rules:
Recipe must be submitted by October 1.  Send the recipe of the soup you will be cooking and an entry fee of $10 to Ransom County Fair, PO Box 890, Lisbon ND 58054. 

Each contestant must bring on the day of the contest a 6 quart (minimum) roaster/crock pot of soup for sampling purposes.  You may prepare soup at home and transport it either hot or cold to the Expo Center on October 8 by 9:30 a.m.  Soup can also be prepared and cooked on-site as long as it is ready by 11 a.m.  If contestants choose to sell their soup per bowl she/he may want to bring more than the minimum amount. 
 Sample cups, soup bowls and spoons will be provided for you.  
 
Sampling and Judging
The public and judges will sample soup from 11 a.m.  to the soup is gone.  Sample cups and spoons will be provided by the Fair Association.

A "Soup Sampler" card can be purchased for $1.00 to anyone wanting to taste the soups.  Bowls will be provided if someone wishes to purchase a bowl of soup of their choice for $2.00.
 Soups will be voted on
consistency, originality, and taste.  Awards will be given to the Fabulous Soup  and People's Choice.
   
   

Garden Swap
Sharing your passion for vegetable and flower gardening.  Now is the time to divide those perennials, let's recycle and reuse!

Vegetable and Flower gardeners are encouraged to bring seeds, bulbs, plants, decor and your knowledge of horticulture to share with others who share your interest.  The swap will begin at 9 a.m.   You are free to swap with others and will not be committed to stay for any length of time.  The swap is meant to help recycle and reuse gardening seeds, plants, bulbs and garden decor.  Persons participating in the swap can do so at no charge.

Please bring your  cleaned seeds, bulbs, plants and decor in a labeled container with the season it should be planted, depth and if it is sunny or shady and any other information you wish to share.

Examples are vegetable seeds from 2011, flower seeds, flower bulbs, divided houseplants, strawberry plants, raspberry plants, and various others.  

A table will be provided to display your items on.

   
   
Harvest Fest
Looking for creative items made from antiques, hardware, wood, metal and others.

Do you have items in your  home, garage, barn, etc that you are no longer using?  Looking for people who would like to sell decorated items or plain items that someone else can be creative with.  Examples are metal tractor seats, door knobs, cycle mower guards, hand saws, dishes, home decor, head boards, jars, license plates etc. 

Rules:

Entrant can rent a 10x10 space for $50.  For each additional space for the same vendor a $20 discount applies.  One table and 2 chairs will be provided.  Any extra tables can be rented for $5 each.

OR

Entrant will rent a 2x8 table for $5 to be used to display your items on.  If you have more items  additional tables can be rented for $5 each.  Entrants must price their own items and sell their own items.  Items must be clean.  No clothing is allowed.  Entrant is responsible for removal of any unsold items.

   
Pumpkin Fiesta
Bring in ANY recipe with Pumpkin as an ingredient and get FREE admission.   If it has pumpkin in the recipe, bring it!  Dip, Bread, Cake, Pie, Cookies, whatever!  Each entrant will be eligible to win one of three prizes.

Rules:

Recipe must have pumpkin as an ingredient.  Any recipe will be allowed.  Food item must be prepared with food safety in mind.  Food can include but are not limited to dips, muffins, pie, cake, bread, etc.

Food items must be brought in a disposable container as no containers will be returned to the owner.  Food items will become the property of the Ransom County Fair Association upon entry.  Items will be sold to the public with the proceeds collected by the Ransom County Fair Association.   If your food item is a dip, please provide the fruit , crackers or chips that it is to be served on.  All food items must have a recipe attached.   Please bring items to the Expo Center by 9:30 a.m. on October 8.
